A RETURN to his favourite track combined with a drop in class should see Stratofortress return to the winners’ circle.
Successful at his two previous starts at Globe Derby, Stratofortress was then an eye-catching second in Hamilton a fortnight ago.
Kept fresh by trainer Greg Scholefield, Stratofortress will head back to Globe Derby tomorrow night where he drops back in grade.
With Scholefield taking advantage of leading concession driver Corey Johnson’s claim, Stratofortress has drawn to lead throughout from barrier three.
“I was very happy with his run in Hamilton,” Scholefield said. “The winner is a very nice horse which had it all his own way from the front and we’ve come from the second line.
“His work this week has been as good as ever and I can’t see him being beaten.”
Scholefield also has his aging warrior Emain Macha engaged in the free-for-all later on the card.
Showing a glimpse of his best when third in similar company earlier this week, Emain Macha has draw to find the front from gate two.
“I think I have finally got him as close to his best as I can,” Scholefield said. “He’s had a few runs back now and is feeling good about himself.
“His work this week is the best it’s been this time in, and if he can lead, he will take a lot of catching.”
