In form harness racing trainer Bernie Hewitt holds the key in most of the Breeders Challenge heats at Bathurst tonight.
The Georges Plains mentor has a four-pronged attack in the first of the three-year-old fillies heats, headlined by unbeaten pacer Winona Writer.
The daughter of Sportswriter has had four starts to date with a personal best mile rate of 1:54.8 when winning at Menangle.
Hewitt has another four starters in the other fillies’ heat where his pacer Ballerini has drawn ideally in two.
The daughter of Bettors Delight has won her last two starts by big margins of more than 40 metres and 30 metres, respectively.
In the boys’ heats, Hewitt has three starters with two going head-to-head in race six with Kashed Up and Shifty Nicolosi. Kashed Up has recently been trained in Queensland by Hewitt’s daughter Gemma and has won his last two outings.
Hewitt then has Bridge Coin in the last heat of the night.
