After being humbled for just the second time in his career back in mid-June, brilliant squaregaiter Cover Of Darkness is back and ready to set the record straight this Saturday night.

The Emma Stewart-trained four-year-old was run down by Sleepee in the Woodlands Stud Noopy Kiosk Trotters Free For All on June 19, with his only other defeat coming when he galloped out of contention in the Vicbred Super Series 3YO Colts and Geldings Final on December 31 last year.

Allan McDonough, who works for Tonkin Stewart Racing and drove the horse in a recent trial at Tabcorp Park Melton, said the horse had battled a “slight foot issue” in recent times.
