LEADING reinswoman Amanda Turnbull is poised to join harness racing legend Chris Alford as she strives to win her third Gold Tiara this Saturday night at the Bathurst Paceway.
Turnbull is driving the Russell Jack trained Just Hope, who is a $1.70 favourite for the Group 1 classic.
Alford has won three Gold Tiara Finals having combined with Lombo La Fe Fe (2002) Amongst Royalty (2006) and Aussie Made Lombo (2010) for his multiple Group 1 wins in this feature event.
Turnbull has already won two Tiara’s with Pixies Parlor (2015) and Joanna (2020).
Turnbull could be set for a wonderful night at the Bathurst Paceway as she’s also down to drive the second favourite Masquerading ($4) in the Group 1 Gold Crown final.
Masquerading is trained by her uncle, Craig Turnbull.
If she was to grab the double, Turnbull would become only the second reinsperson in the 35-year history of the carnival to have done so, another remarkable milestone.
She will emulate the efforts of Ricky Thurlow who the Crown with Flubber and the Tiara with Tericherry on finals night in 1998.
Turnbull has already broken many records in her short, spectacular career.
If she was to achieve the double and join a legend like Chris Alford in claiming triple Tiara successes the night will be a very special one in what has already been an extraordinary career.
