The fields have been finalised for Sunday’s nine-race program in Launceston which features six heats of the 2021 Australian Female Drivers Championship (AFDC).

Following the inaugural version of the event in Launceston in 2018 and at Albion Park the following year, Sunday’s AFDC will be the third instalment in the event’s history and has once again brought together some of the nation’s best drivers.

2019 AFDC winner Narissa McMullen is back to defend her crown as part of the Queensland team, joined by her sister Danielle Vievers.

Kate Gath and Kerryn Manning represent Victoria as they did for the AFDC back in 2018 and that pair are clearly the most experienced team in the competition.

Samantha Gangell and Hannah Van dongen will carry the local hopes for Tasmania as they did back in 2019 where Gangell was the best of the Tasmanian pair in sixth position on the outright table.

All six of the AFDC heats on Sunday have received the maximum number of acceptors so points will be allocated per race as follows.

  • 1st – 19 points
  • 2nd – 14 points
  • 3rd – 11 points
  • 4th – 9 points
  • 5th – 8 points
  • 6th – 7 points
  • 7th – 6 points
  • 8th – 5 points
  • 9th – 4 points
  • 10th – 3 points
  • 11th – 2 points
  • 12th – 1 point

If a horse is scratched from any heat, the driver of the scratched horse will receive five points.

Sunday is the conclusion of the 2021 Team Team campaign which has already raised in excess of $150,000 across Australia and New Zealand this season.

Sunday’s Launceston program will be live hosted on TasracingTV with the first race scheduled for 17:21.
