The Teal Pants Campaign begins on the 1st February. We caught up with South Island Ambassador Ellie Barron

What’s your favourite colour and why?
Navy for no apparent reason, it just features a lot in my wardrobe.

How do you keep fit, and what are your tips to keep healthy?
I go to a CrossFit gym a few times a week, keep moving, drink water and everything in moderation (when possible).

If you weren’t involved in harness racing what do you imagine you would be doing now?
I assume I would still be working as a Physiotherapist in a private practice or in a hospital.

If you had to go into quarantine with one other person who would that be and why?
Kimberly Butt – for Harry Potter marathons.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from anyone?
Incredible change can happen in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.

If you could only order one drink, what would it be?
Gin lemonade and lime.

Do you have a big regret in life and if so, what is it?
I wish I travelled before Covid existed

What would you say to anyone considering a career in harness racing?
Do it, if you love horses and good people you’ll never ‘work’ a day in your life.

What’s your favourite holiday destination and why?
Wanaka, relaxing and beautiful.

What does it mean to be an Ambassador for Team Teal and why is the campaign important to you?
Nice to be able to do my bit to promote ovarian cancer as well as supporting females in harness racing.
