The 2017 Fremantle Cup winner is back and is low flying for this year’s edition of the time-honoured feature.
He rounded out his preparation for the event with a scintillating 53.9 last half to take out Sunday’s Global Premium Funding-Pat Cranley Memorial (2130m).
The seven-year-old spent 10 months on the sidelines following just his sixth unplaced finish at Gloucester Park in June 2019.
He made his return to racing in April with a super win in a six-horse field.
At just his second start back he took on a fit and firing Shockwave in what shaped as a match race, only for the pair to be run down by Ocean Ridge in the closing stages.
He picked his way through the heart of the winter from there, scoring nine wins and four placings between the second-up run and James Brennan Memorial.
Undoubtedly the highlight came when he sat in the breeze outside Handsandwheels in July and scored by a short half-head in 1.55.4.
It was at that moment any fears of Chicago Bull not getting back to his best were put to one side.
The James Brennan Memorial was one for the ages, as Shockwave opened up a huge lead on his rivals while Bully did the chasing.
He only fell short by a short half-head in a race that helped set up the summer to come.
Since then, Chicago Bull has strung together five consecutive wins, three of which came in $50,000 races.
