Tomorrow night sees the running of the Pat Cranley Memorial and Norms Daughter Classic. Our Alfie Romeo, pictured above, took out last year’s Norms Daughter Classic. Get the all important last word from each of the key players below.
RACE 1 – COLIN COWDEN 3YO PACE
1. Lindsay Harper (HENGHENG): “He’s more dour than quick. Will try lead. It’s a hard race on paper. Can run decent sectionals. If he leads he can earn.”
2. (MISTA MANGELS): “
3. Shannon Suvaljko (RIVERINA FLASH): “Going really well and is a chance at a good price with luck.”
4. Gary Hall Snr (COPY N PACE): “Disappointed with him last start. I think he’s better than that. Look for improvement. If he led he would be hard to beat.”
5. Shane Young (SUING YOU): “Going okay. Probably take the soft option with her.”
6. Gary Hall Snr (MASTER PUBLISHER): “Needed the run last start. Work has been good since.”
7. Mike Reed (VALENTINES BROOK): “First-up and the draw hasn’t helped. Go back with him.”
8. Gary Hall Snr (THE IDEAL TOUCH): “Barrier draw won’t help him.”
9. Mike Reed (TIFFANY ROSE): “In-season last week. Work on Wednesday was first class. I reckon she will go back.”
10. Chris Voak (HOTFOOT IT): “Racing very well. Good each-way chance with clear running.”
11. Jocelyn Young (WARRIORS LEGACY): “Racing better than ever. With some luck in running he can earn again.”
RACE 2 – BRIAN ATKIN PACE
1. Aiden De Campo (THE KRAKEN): “Looks a good race for him again.”
2. (EUPHORIC MOMENT): “
3. Colin Brown (WESTERN ARTERRA): “He will run a race.”
4. Emily Suvaljko (HEADLINE ACT): “She’s got good gate speed. Will look for a forward position.”
5. Chris Voak (GONZOS SHADOW): “Draw hurts. Will need luck. Novelty hope.”
6. (TRIROYALE BRIGADE): “
7. Aldo Cortopassi (SHADOW ROLL): “He’s runs have been good. Come back well. He’s sit and sprint so he will love the 2500. He will be right in it.”
8. Jocelyn Young (VRAI AMOUR): “Draw isn’t in our favour. The long trip helps. Capable enough if the race is run genuinely.”
9. Ryan Bell (RADIANT AMBER): “Racing really well. Bad barrier. 2500 brings her into it. There’s a bit of pressure in that race.”
10. Ryan Bell (BLUE BLAZER): “Racing really well. He’s turned the corner. Good draw for him and follows the likely leader. The leader doesn’t run away from them so I can’t see him getting a crack at them.”
11. (LEAP OF FAITH): “
12. Lindsay Harper (BEACH SKIPPER): “When he leads he’s a nice horse. Wait for the night for him to lead.”
RACE 3 – CHRIS CARR CONDITIONED PACE
1. Emily Suvaljko (CHIAROSCRUO): “Been racing well in FFA. Drops back a grade and will look to take full advantage of the number one barrier.”
2. Greg Bond (EL JACKO): “Should settle handy. Each-way.”
3. Ross Olivieri (JIMMY MACK): “very good each-way chance. Quite a few options from leading to sitting to going on the fence.
4. (OUR PERKINS): “
5. Gary Hall Snr (ELOQUENT MACH): “He’s got to draw to lead. He will run third, fourth or fifth. He’s out of his class.
6. Matt Scott (ROCK ME OVER): “Hard from the draw.”
7. Justin Prentice (ALWAYS AN HONOUR): “Racing well. Just can’t get a draw. Will need the race run to suit.”
8. Callan Suvaljko (ROCKNROLL WHITBY): “Go back and take shortcuts.”
9. (TYLER BRETT): “
10. (AS HAPPY AS LARRY): “
RACE 4 – GLOBAL PREMIUM FUNDING PAT CRANLEY MEMORIAL
1. Aldo Cortopassi (CONVERT DENARIO): “Let him run the gate and roll along and see what happens. He loves rolling along rather than sit and sprint.”
2. Ross Olivieri (IM FULL OF EXCUSES): “His trials have been good. Will get a nice run in the race. Will be dependent on the one and whether he leads.
3. Gary Hall Snr (CHICAGO BULL): “Convert Denario may hold him out. He’s better in the breeze. He’s focused there and can dictate terms. I doubt Convert Denario will hand over with brakes on. Happy for him to have to earn the lead.”
4. (PERFECT MAJOR): “Only in this race because the other two races he was in fell over. Depends how it plays out what we do. Good chance in the race.”
5. Ryan Bell (SHOCKWAVE): “I’m not sure how Aiden will drive him. I thought maybe we come across with Bully and stay on top of him. There’s every chance the one horse may want to lead. As long as he hits the line hard.”
6. Ross Olivieri (STROKE OF LUCK): “Tricky draw. Rules him out.”
7. Robert MacDonald (ARGYLE RED): “Will be hoping for luck in running and should go close.”
8. Michael Grantham (BRAEVIEW BONDI): “Draw is a killer.”
9. Emily Suvaljko (VULTAN TIN): “Hit the line strong at his last outing. Tricky barrier so I will have to assess our options to the pace of the race.”
RACE 5 – COWDEN INSURANCE BROKERS NORMS DAUGHTER CLASSIC
1. (GOTTA GO GABBANA): “
2. Greg Bond (OUR ALFIE ROMEO): “Nice draw. Should give it a good shake.”
3. (QUEEN SHENANDOAH): “hard when two best inside. Best draw for a while. Going terrific
4. Jocelyn Young (HAS NO FEAR): “Going well, but needs luck in a very competitive race.”
5. Greg Bond (WAINUI CREEK): “Nice effort last week and can be in the finish.”
6. Gary Hall Snr (BALCATHERINE): “Think she’s best mare in the race. A year away from being tough enough to work in the race and win. She needs to race in this company for a while. She will go back and do nothing early. She’s a star on the horizon. Could be a Pacing Cup horse next year.”
7. Aiden De Campo (MANDY JOAN): “Very disappointing so far this prep. Will be driven quietly and look to run on.”
8. Mike Reed (ARMA INDIE): “In-season last week too. Definitely go back from the draw.”
9. Shane Young (ROSIES IDEAL): “Has a bad draw and needs a lot of luck.”
10. Emily Suvaljko (TALKERUP): “Good barrier for her. Maps to be leaders back and if she gets luck late she can play a part in the top five.”
11. Aiden De Campo (MILLWOOD MOLLY): “Racing really well without any luck in her last two. Nice trailing draw suits.”
12. Colin Brown (TYPHOON TIFF): “Only needed a draw. Her work has been excellent.”
RACE 6 – TREVOR ITZSTEIN PACE
1. Callan Suvaljko (SUZIES GEM): “Has the draw to be in the finish. Will come off the gate.”
2. Corey Peterson (ONE FOR DAVE ANDME): “Should go alright. Was driven quietly last start and hit the line strongly. He should find the front, but he always takes a few runs to come back. Whatever he does he will improve on.”
3. (ANIME): “
4. Micheal Ferguson (MY MASTER OF DISGUISE): “Goes down on driver ability and up in grade. Going well enough to sneak top five.”
5. Aldo Cortopassi (ROMAN AVIATOR): “Super last week. Back on track. Tuck him away and have one dash
6. Ross Olivieri (QUICK STRIDE): “always a chance in that sort of race.
7. Chris Voak (SOKYS BIGBULLET): “Solid performance last start all things considered. Will have to do it the tradesman’s way again. Each-way.”
8. (GRAN CHICO): “Big drop in class. Go well. I’d say he’d come out. He’s my best chance.”
9. (RABCHENKO): “
10. Shannon Suvaljko (MATTJESTIC STAR): “Good draw but the distance isn’t in his favour. Place.”
RACE 7 – IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY CASEY GREENFIELD PACE
1. Shannon Suvaljko (ANGEL IN WHITE): “Great draw to earn. Good last run. Will run a good race.”
2. Ross Olivieri (JUST MAKEMINE DIAMONDS): “I thought yes shot for lead initially, until I saw Thereugo. If she’s not used early she can thunder home. If she can find the lead she would be hard to beat.”

4. (DESTINED TO RULE): “
5. Aiden De Campo (DELIGHTFULREACTION): “Tricky draw. She’s never far away though.”

11. (ALLWOODS ROCKNROLL): “
12. (SERGEANT OATS): “
RACE 8 – GRAHAM COMPSON 80TH BIRTHDAY PACE
1. Cody Wallrodt (BABYFACE ADDA): “Racing well again. Hit the line strongly in his last few starts. Will take full advantage of the draw and hopefully bring home the chocolates.”
2. (THE BLACK CARDINAL): “
3. Chris Voak (MAJOR STARE): “Will be fitter for last start. This field looks suitable. Good chance on best form.”
4. (IM ROCKNROLL MAGIC): “
5. Shannon Suvaljko (A BOY NAMED ROSIE): “Difficult draw. Is racing okay. Bit of luck would be handy.”
6. (HENWOOD BAY): “
7. Matt Scott (C C CHEVRON): “Hard from the draw.”
8. Callan Suvaljko (EXTREME PRINCE): “At least I can keep the same number from the race before. Went well first-up for me and will be getting home well.”
9. (BURNING RUBBER): “
10. Matt Scott (QTOWN RIP ROARING): “Probably my only chance on the night. Drawn well.”

4. Shannon Suvaljko (BENESARI LANE): “Nice filly who will run a good race again.”
5. Michael Grantham (BETTOR BEACH BELLE): “Filly is going really well of late and the form is holding up. Good to get behind her.”
