When Perfectly Written won the Vicbred Home Grown Classic Final at Melton on September 11, she repaid owner Paul Nobes , who outlaid $85,000 at last year’s Garrards 2yo Trialling Sale at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
Perfectly Written, a filly by Sportwritter, and out of Perfect Art mare, Perfecshon. Perfecshon is a half sister to four time Inter Dominion winner, Blacks A Fake.
Nobes – a former Sheffield Shield cricketer – sent the filly to Shane Tritton. Perfectly Written claimed two of her three starts for the NSW mentor before transferring to Lance Holberton’s Globe Derby stable.
Holberton took the filly to Kilmore for her Breeders Crown heat, in which she finished fifth. She then returned to the same venue for a heat of the Vicbred Home Grown series, in which she led, but finished fifth again.
She was drawn the back line in the final. Driver Jason Lee was able to follow out The Halem Hammer, which held the lead from gate one. Then Lee was able to punch through on the sprint lane in the home straight to claim the $25,000 first prize by 3.6 metres over Missing Mary, with Dougs Limousine taking third spot.
