YOU could be ‘in the money’ just by purchasing a yearling at the 2020 Sydney Australian Pacing Gold Sales.
That’s because harness racing’s number one club, Club Menangle is providing $50,000 in bonuses for yearlings bought at this year’s sale.
A $25,000 bonus will be available for the highest-finishing colt or gelding as well as the highest-finishing filly in the Two-Year-Old Gold Bullion Finals in Sydney in May, 2021.
All they need to do is fulfill the following three criteria:
- They’re bred in New South Wales;
- They are sold at the APG sale in Sydney;
- They contested the Two-Year-Old Gold Bullion Final at Club Menangle in 2021.
To collect the $25,000, your purchase doesn’t actually have to win, he or she just needs to be the first past the post of those who fulfill those three criteria.
Just to give you an example of what could occur and how you could collect that bonus:
The winner of the Two-Year-Old Gold Bullion Final is branded with a NSW freezebrand, but was sold at the APG Melbourne Sale;
The runner-up is a non-sale entry which is branded with a NSW freezebrand and is owned and trained in NSW;
The third horse is a NSW-branded horse which was passed in at the APG Sydney Sale and no sale was negotiated during APG’s 14-day agency period that begins immediately post sales day.
The fourth horse is a NSW branded horse that was passed in on sales day, but APG negotiated a sale on the vendor’s behalf during its 14-day agency period.
In the above scenario, the first three finishers are ineligible for the bonus.
The first horse was ineligible because it was not offered for sale at the APG Sydney Sale;
The second horse was ineligble as a non-sale entry, while the third horse was ineligible because it was not sold on sales day or during the subsequent 14-day APG agency period.
Accordingly, the bonus goes to the fourth-placed horse, which was bred in NSW and sold at APG’s Sydney Sale, because although it was passed in on sales day, it was sold shortly thereafter, during APG’s exclusive 14 day agency period.
