Promising filly My Sweet Deal has caught the eye of a couple of members of the WA Trotting Media Guild at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
The West Australian’s Ernie Manning and TABradio’s form expert Hayden King have made the Sweet Lou three-year-old their best bet on an exciting 11-event card.
“My Sweet Deal looks set for a successful switch to the city after winning three races at Pinjarra and two at Bunbury in her past five starts,” Manning said. ”There was a lot of merit in her Pinjarra victory, after racing three-wide, last Monday week. Trained at Collie by David Hunter, the filly showed big potential from early in her career. Bunbury and Pinjarra wins were notched at her first two starts, then she ran two seconds before launching her current sequence of consecutive victories.”
King is a big fan as well.
“My Sweet Deal is extremely quick and is now building her strength and versatility,” King said. “She is currently our premier three-year-old filly.“
Longshot guru Pat Harding, who is finally smiling after receiving his $500 cheque for another victory in last season’s longest-priced winner category, believes Ocean Ridge can continue on his winning ways.
“After a scintillating win last week, I expect Ocean Ridge to repeat the performance,” Harding said. ”Coming out of barrier one it should be another great win for the Bond camp.“
Veteran tipster and form expert Ken Casellas is keen on Bob Wheel.
“Bob Wheel is a smart frontrunner and he looks perfectly placed at barrier two for his return to racing after a two-month absence when he contest the sixth event at Gloucester Park on Friday night,” Casellas said. “The Craig Saligari-trained six-year-old is my best bet on a tantalising program.”
TABradio’s racecaller Matt Young has earmarked Speed Man as his best.
“Speed Man has drawn beautifully to show his best and comes down in grade a shade,” Young said. “He is very versatile and should prove too strong.”
Radio Great Southern’s form analyst Warren Wishart believes squaregaiter Lord Liam can return to winning form.
“Lord Liam is back to a front line draw and it should see him return to the winners’ circle,” Wishart said. “Has explosive early speed so should cross and be too good.”
VALUE BETS:
ERNIE: Commander Chapel, who early this month returned after almost three years out of racing, is due to show some of the ability which enabled him to win at each of his first eight WA starts after arriving from New Zealand. The gelding has won five Gloucester Park events.
HAYDEN: Tenno Sho is now in the care of Giles Inwood and should appreciate the change. He has gate speed and could lead throughout.
PAT: Robb Stark has been racing consistently but gets his chance to break through for a well-earned win at a good price.
KEN: For value, I suggest Robb Stark, who has drawn out wide at barrier seven in the 1730m ninth event. The five-year-old with a losing sequence of 15 performed solidly last Friday night when he sustained a spirited three-wide burst from eighth in the middle stages to finish third behind Know When To Run.
MATT: Shockwave is a sleeper in the 4YO Classic. His last two runs have been sensational.
WARREN: Righteous Brother at double figures is worth a play. The draw gives him the chance to settle on the pace. He can give a sight.
