Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) has reviwed and modified the relief available in standing start handicap races, where connections are permitted to utilise a Mare’s or Driver concessions claim.
Effective immediately – In a standing start event where concession claims are permitted, the maximum benefit a horse can receive from utilising either a mares or driver concession, is 10 metres.
In making this determination HRSA is aware that as a consequence of the new ratings system, there have been a number of occasions whereby horses have benefitted from either a mare’s or a driver concession to receive a ‘lift’ in the handicaps of 20m.
Historically, either claim only provided a `lift’ of 10 metres and it is managements view that this relief was, and remains appropriate, when connections utilise a claim..
