The Tin Soldier’s journey from being sacked by his trainer Brad Mowbray multiple times, to starting in last weekend’s Mt Hutt Cup is one of loyalty and perseverance.
So often we take for granted horses making it to race day, but don’t always hear the amazing back stories these horses have.
The Tin Soldier was so troublesome at home that he very nearly didn’t become a racehorse at all.
But it was the loyalty, and self-admitted stubbornness, of part owner Melanie Mowbray that saw ‘The Goat’ prevail. And his story isn’t over yet!
It’s an inspiring ownership journey of hope and trust, and one a lot of owners might take heart from.
He will next feature at the races in Race 12 at Rangiora on Sunday afternoon.
