Wyndham Harness Racing Club Thursday 17 January
WYNDHAM HARNESS RACING CLUB
The long summer evenings in the south lend themselves to twilight racing and racegoers can enjoy an evening out at the Wyndham Harness Racing Club meeting at Young Quinn Raceway this Thursday.
The first of ten races is at 2.50pm with the last scheduled for 7.56pm.
The meeting will feature a guaranteed $30,000 Pick 6 which will run from races 5 through to 10.
Highlights include the Michelle Caig Breeding ‘All Heart’ Lot 176 Gold Chip Final Handicap Trot, the Brendan Franks Farrier Handicap Trot and the Grant Chamberlain Builder Mobile Pace.
The meeting is the first of three in quick succession at Wyndham with another scheduled for Thursday 31 January once again with a later start at 2.48pm.
That is followed by the club’s popular horses and horsepower day on Sunday 3 February which incorporates a classic car display alongside a day of racing and entertainment.
INVERCARGILL HARNESS RACING CLUB
The other club with a busy schedule as January comes to an end is Invercargill with two meetings at Ascot Park Raceway, the first on Monday 21 January from 12.15pm followed by the club’s Cup Day on Saturday 26 January.
A seven night stay at the Peninsular Beachfront Resort in Mooloolaba plus $1000 towards your airfares courtesy of Beach Road Holiday Park is one of the big prizes on offer on the club’s premier day of the season. Best of all, that prize can be won by anyone on course and it is as easy as filling in a coupon and awaiting the lucky draw which will win someone accommodation valued at $2415 Australian dollars along with $1000NZ of airfares.
That same coupon will also give you the opportunity to win with The Bet’s In The Bag where four draws will be made throughout the day to win one of several betting vouchers of no less than $100 to use on the day. Entry details for all of these great competitions will appear in the Southland Express over the next two weeks although coupons for the trip and Bets In The Bag will be available on course on the day also.On track there will be a great day of harness racing action featuring the Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup and the Arden Lodge Robin Dundee Crown amid a great day of racing scheduled to begin at 12noon.
Admission on the day is free as is the children’s entertainment which consists of a bouncy castle, bumper balls, kids tote, sack races and more while there will be a free bag of lollies for every child on course after Race 6.

Marlborough Friday 18 and Sunday 20 January
The two day summer meeting at Waterlea will be held on the grass surface.
A Friday twilight meeting will be followed by a family race day on the Sunday.
There will be a gate charge on both days, owners please refer to your owners email for free entry.

Alexandra Park – March Fundraising Race Nights
Alexandra Park will be holding two special race nights in March to help raise funds for Ovarian and Prostate Cancer.
March 1 is Oaks Night and will help raise funds for Team Teal and the fight against Ovarian Cancer. $5 from each ticket goes to the cause.
The night will also feature a celebrity dual sulky race.
March 8 is Derby night and $5 from each ticket sold there will also go to the fight against Prostate Cancer.
Tickets are $65 per person, with elegantly crafted buffet dinner and desserts.
