Head to Addington Raceway & Events Centre Friday night for the first 5-star (Premier) meeting of the 2018 season.
Two stand out feature races brings together some of the best horses in the country, whilst the first 3 Year Old race in the South Island brings a wealth of form.
First race kicks off at 5.21pm but the action really heats up in Race 4 with the McMillian Equine Feeds Sires’ Stakes Series Heat 2.
Impressive last start winners include Gran Chico, Global Domination, Starts Tonight and The Moonshadow. Kingmaker who has won two of his three starts and Stick Man has won two of four starts are also leading hopes. This will be a hotly contested affair and could be the strongest lead up race to the $170k Final.
Race 5 is an important lead up race to the Used To Me @ Haras des Trotteurs Dominion Trot on the 16th of November in the Lamb & Hayward Canterbury Park Trotting Cup.
This race sees five last start winners going head to head Le Lievre’s Gift, Harriet Of Mot, Destiny Jones, Marcoola and Great Things Happen.
Marcoola’s win first up was impressive against top opposition, Great Things Happen and Harriet Of Mot both beat middle grade trotters but were very impressive in doing so. Not to be out done,
Destiny Jones proved that she isn’t without a show by winning the D G Jones Memorial Trot last Sunday. Last years Canterbury Park Trotting Cup winner Bordeaux is looking to turn his form around and get on the right track towards Show Day.
With the winner of this race getting automatic entry into the Used To Me @ Haras des Trotteurs Dominion Trot this race will be an enthralling battle of the big guns as they shape up for the Features in Cup Week.
Race 7 sees the strongest of the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup lead up races to date.
Stepping out for his first run of the season Ultimate Machete will look to prove why he’s the early favorite for the Cup Week feature.
Stablemate Dream About Me proved she is heading in the right direction winning her last start in the Hannon Memorial narrowly defeating A G’s White Socks and Captain Dolmio.
Eamon Maguire will also garner support after and impressive 4 Year Old Season as he mixes it with the top guns.
The first three runners home here are guaranteed a start in the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup so expect fireworks as the runners lower down on the rankings will be trying to upset the more favored runners to book their spot.
