“HE HAS a long way before he can be compared to Lenny, but he’s a nice replacement.”

That was the call from trainer David Aiken when discussing rising star Wrappers Delight.

Joining Aiken’s team earlier this season, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase has been impressive winning three of his six starts while finishing second in the other three.

The four-year-old’s wins include the Vicbred Super Series Final and Breeders’ Crown Championship, which he captured at Tabcorp Park Melton during the weekend.

Lennytheshark also entered Aiken’s stable as a four-year-old before securing the Vicbred Super Series Final. He never contest the Breeders’ Crown.

Becoming Australia’s premier pacer during the next three years, Lennytheshark was recently retired to stud.

“I wouldn’t go that far, but he’s a pretty nice horse which keeps doing the job,” Aiken said. “Whether he can reach the kind of heights Lenny did only time will tell.

“He is an impressive type and I’m very happy to have him here.

“He is a bit sounder than Lenny was when he got here, but he has a long way to go to be compared to him.”

With Kima Frenning holding the reins during his latest triumph, Wrappers Delight was caught three-wide from barrier five before working his way to the front.

Never seriously challenged, the son of Bettors Delight cruised to a nine-and-a-half metre win from the previously unbeaten The Storm Inside, with Sirletic a head away third for an all APG trifecta.

“That was another good run from him and a great way to end his campaign,” Aiken said.

“He will go to the water walker for eight to 10 days now then I will look at Kilmore Cup next month with him,” Aiken said.

“After that I will aim him at the Victoria Cup and Inter Dominion.

“Lenny won those three races, so if Wrappers Delight can do the same I might think about a comparison.”
