WA Trotting Media Guild Friday’s Thoughts 29th June

Classy mare Dior Mia More, standing-start specialist Jimmy Mack, outstanding three-year-old Jack Mac and consistent squaregaiter Sunoflindenny have all been earmarked as hard to beat at Gloucester Park on Friday night by members of the WA Trotting Media Guild.

All four horses look likely to start in the red, but an all-up wager could see a healthy return.

Last year’s leading tipster Stuart Lowe and The West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft have made Dia Mia More their best bet on the program.

“Dior Mia More is racing in sparkling form with four wins from her last five starts,” Lowe said. “On the other occasion was a massive second from barrier nine, beaten a half length. Drawn the pole here and should win.”

Havercroft agrees.

“Annie Belton holds a strong hand in The Lombardo Final, but it’s had to see Gotta Go Gabbana getting over stablemate Dior Mia More,” Havercroft said. “She has started favourite and won at three of four starts since resuming. Expect her to be favourite and first home again this Friday.”

GPTV’s Ken Casellas believes punters can start the program on a winning note by supporting Kasey John.

“Kasey John is the youngest and least experienced runner in the opening event on Friday night and the four-year-old makes strong appeal and is my best bet on an interesting program,” Casellas said. “He is favourably drawn at barrier two on the front line and looks set to lead and take plenty of catching in the 2130m event. He has the ability to make amends for unplaced efforts at his past three starts and excels as a frontrunner with three all-the-way wins over 2130m at headquarters.”

The West Australian’s Ernie Manning is keen on prolific winner Simba Bromac to bounce back.

“Simba Bromac has been freshened since he lost the lead, faced the breeze and finished third on May 25,” Manning said. “He was heading for his fifth consecutive win when beaten. The gelding has an imposing tally of 13 victories from his last 18 races.”

TABradio’s Matt Young has been taken with the unbeaten To Fast To Serious’s three wins.

“To Fast To Serious comes up with the perfect draw,” Young said. “The undefeated two-year-old faces his acid test here but should lead and looks to have a big motor and I think he’ll match the challenge and come up trumps.”

Longshot maestro Pat Harding believes Friday night could see quite a few very short priced winners at Gloucester Park.

“Quite a number of favourites are at odds-on prices and punters should perhaps think about taking doubles and all-up bets given the short prices,” Harding said. “My best bet of the night comes up in the ninth with the Barry Howlett-trained Jack Mac. This horse has already branded himself as one of the most exciting prospects for the future and with only a small field I expect Chris Lewis to guide him to victory.”

Guild president Wayne Currall has opted for standing-start specialist Jimmy Mack to land the prize in the third.

“Jimmy Mack has had two goes from the strands and has saluted both times,” Currall said. “He’s drawn well, has champion reinsman Chris Lewis in the bike and has won two of his last three from mobiles. Can spear to an early lead and dictate in front.”
VALUE BETS

Stuart: My value bet is Tommy Be Good who is racing well, but without luck, in top-class company. Returns to standing-start conditions, off 20m, and with the drop in class should go close.

Ryan: Its Rock And Roll can figure in the placings at double-figure odds in the 2YO Colts & Geldings Westbred Classic. Yet to finish unplaced after seven lifetime starts.

Ken: For value, I’m suggesting Soho Interceptor from the No.2 barrier in the Westbred Classic for 2YO Fillies. She has excellent gate speed and set the pace before winning at Gloucester Park and Menangle in the autumn.

Ernie: Galactic Star has been beaten at his past 10 starts, but is capable of surprising if reproducing the form he showed when winning an Inters heat and running fifth in the final late last year.

Matt: Always Arjay is flying since returning. This is a winnable race and will be at good each-way value. Happy to go with him in the opener.

Pat: No value here, but the other “good thing” of the night should be the Annie Belton-trained Dior Mia More in the second. With Gary Hall Jr aboard and from barrier one this should be a breeze.

Wayne: Last-start winner Babyface Adda will probably lob three back the pegs, but he can run into the money at great each-way odds.
