TRAINER Gary Hall Sr has scrapped Breeders Crown plans for his best horse Beaudiene Boaz.
The Harness Jewels and WA Derby winner has won both runs back from a break – including a Crown heat at Gloucester Park – but Hall Sr is taking a longer term view.
“I know I said I’d take him, but although the stakemoney is good, it’s not great and there are so many really big races for him over here towards the end of the year,” he said.
“I’m not afraid of horses like Menin Gate, Follow The Stars and others, but I’d be dirty on myself if something went wrong on the trip and it jeopardised the big plans I’ve got him next season.”
Beaudiene Boaz will step-out again at Gloucester Park on Friday night where, despite the outside draw (gate nine), he should be a league above his three-year-old rivals.
“He’ll have this run and maybe another couple before he goes out for a break again,” Hall Sr said.
“That way I build everything around having him primed for the big four-year-old races, headed by the Golden Nugget, here later in the year.”
Hall Sr has also ruled-out tackling the Perth Inter Dominion, starting on November 27 at Gloucester Park.
“I’ve thought about it, but there’s enough for him without that and the Inter is here in our backyard for the next three years,” he said.
“No, he won’t go in this one. He’ll go to those four-year-old races then I’ll throw him in one or both of the Fremantle and WA Pacing Cups. After that he’s got the Chariots Of Fire in Sydney.”
