This week’s Bookie Update thanks to Richard Wilson

Thursday – Forbury Park
A tricky start to the week at Forbury with two or three upset results.  The best bet was $3,000 on Sea Rover @ $2.90 & $500 on Elva Jaccka @ $8.80 proved to be pretty good as well.  $2,400 My Patronus @ $4.20 went our was as did $10,000 on Dexter Dunn to win the Drivers Challenge @ $1.50.

Friday – Auckland
More calm before the storm at Auckland.  The favourites won the last 3 races but there were a few upsets before that.  A late $5,000 on Geena’s Girl in the last race proved very lucrative as she but up in the last few strides.  $2,000 on The Big Cheese was a handy result as well.  Going our was were $5,000 Troubador @ $6.50, $3,000 Jansson @ $5 & $2,000 English Rose @ $1.60.

Saturday – Cambridge Jewels
Very close to multi heaven for punters at this years Jewels meeting.  Six of the Nine favourites won with the second favourite winning the other 3 races.
2yo Diamond:- Princess Tiffany romped home to kick off a tonne of multis.  Plenty of $2,000-$3,000 single bets on her @ $1.95-$1.80 as well.
2yo Ruby:- Enhance Your Calm did just that for punters.  A bet of $8,800 @ $1.50 the best on him but there was solid support for Full Noise incl. $1,000 @ $9, Oscar Bonavena $4.20-$3.70 and Tickle Me Pink @ $12.
3yo Diamond:- Shez All Rock opened $1.35 into $1.23 & blitzed the field.  $20,000 @ $1.30 the best bet on her with $10,000 & $8,800 bets @ $1.23 taking the total hold on her over $50,000.
4yo Diamond:- An even betting race here.  Utmost Delight was $4.50 into $3.50 very early on & stayed there.  Plenty of support for Seaswift Joy $4.80-$4.20, Party On $1,000 @ $8 & Delishka $1,000 @ $14 into $6.
4yo Ruby:- This race turned on its head between the false start & actual start.  Enghien $1.45-$2 was in a huge stack of multis but Habibi Inta was the single betters choice @ $4.80-$2.40.  $2,000 @ $2.60 & $1,000 bets @ $3.50 & $3.20 did the most damage.
2yo Emerald:- Massive support for Jesse Duke @ $2.30-$1.95.  Twelve bets between $3,000 & $1,000 saw over $40,000 held on him.  Another Masterpiece winning was a relief for ups although he was the next best backed @ $2.50-$3.50.
4yo Emerald:- Another even betting race with slightly less money on Eamon Maguire @ $2.50 than Star Galleria @ $3.30-$3.20.  $2,800 & $1,900 bets got home on Eamon whilst $4,000 Star Galleria @ $3.20 dipped out.
3yo Ruby:- Multi punters were happy with Winterfell winning but there weren’t many large single bets on him apart from an early $10,000 @ $1.35 which saw him drift to $1.42.  There was solid backing late for Wobelee @ $6.80-$6 incl. $2,000 @ $6.20.
3yo Emerald:- Strong support all day saw Sicario move into be favourite $3.50-$2.70.  Multiple $1,000 bets @ $2.90 & $2.70 were the tip of a decent iceberg.  $2,000 on Sheriff @ $3.30 also missed out & it was a rare experience for the bookies to cheer home Dexter for a modest profit as the 3rd best backed in the race.  However that was shortlived as $8,500 @ $1.35 & $7,500 @ $1.30 Top3 bets on Sheriff & $1,600 Solid Gold @ $4.80 Top3 ate that profit up.

Sunday – Ashburton
A solid day for punters at Ashburton.  Miss You got home in the last for one punter with $1,000 @ $2.70 & $2,000 @ $2.50.  Other handy bets were $300 on Uptown Lady @ $6.50 & $300 on Mr Fahrenheit also @ $6.50.  Thankfully the biggest bet of the day missed, that being $4,000 Brightest Moment @ $3 & $1,300 Tyron Bettor’s Ella @ $4 also went our way.

Monday – Invercargill
Punters loaded up & cashed in on Vintage Cheddar in R8 at Invercargill.  He opened $4 & was crunched into $3.10 by start time.  Trouble Giero also got punters home @ $2.20-$2.10 but we managed to get a little bit of Jewels money back of a few rough results throughout the day.

Princess Tiffany @ $1.80

Habibi Inta @ $3.50
Winterfell @ $1.35
