Best Bet(s)
Race 7: (10) Eamon Maguire
Best Value Bet
Race 2: (12) Oscar Bonavena
Early Quaddie R2-5
4,12/5/2,3,5,6,13/1,3
Late Quaddie R6-9
5,6/10/1,9/2,3,12
Race 1: 11.50am – 2YO Diamond – 2YO Pacing Fillies
Selections: (8) Princess Tiffany, (7) Kayla Marie, (10) Havtime, (1) Platinum Revolution
Suggested bet: Boxed Trifecta
Comments: There will be plenty of speed on early with the Aussie raider drawing the ace barrier but the All Stars stable of Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen have a strong hand here and most would expect them to kick of their Jewels day with a victory.
(8) Princess Tiffany – is having her first run for over a month after a foot infection. Before that problem she was stamping herself as the class 2yo filly of the year, fitness query but from a smart barn and she’s good enough to overcome this barrier.
(7) Kayla Marie –is the main danger and stable mate to Princess Tiffany, All Stars barn and Mark Purdon takes the reins, smart winner of the Sire Stakes final last start. If they head forward out of the gate you would expect her to get cover from her stable mate. Eachway claims.
(10) Havtime – could be the upset runner here, she’s a smart filly who will be able to punch through from the second row and she should find herself in the front half of the pack without doing too much work. A prime spot to let rip. Worth a bet at odds. (1) Platinum Revolution – is the Australian raider who draws perfectly, blinds on and expect them to hold the lead and run them along – her Australian form is good enough to win this if she can get away with a cheap sectional somewhere.

Race 2: 12.25pm – 2YO Ruby – 2YO Trotters
Selections: (12) Oscar Bonavena, (4) Enhance Your Calm, (5) Cheerful, (11) Doff Your Cap
Suggested bet: (12) Oscar Bonavena – Eachway
Comments: (12) Oscar Bonavena – joined the All Stars barn during the week after being the subject of a large priced purchase. Natalie Rasmussen takes the reins and I’m happy to put him on top here. His last run at Addington was sensational after pulling hard outside the leader and he did put a length on Enhance Your Calm before coming to the end of his run. Drawn to follow his stable mate through from the second row and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was in the first five after 200m. Tough to beat.
(4) Enhance Your Calm – is aiming to remain unbeaten here but I’m not sure how he will handle the Cambridge track and bends. He’s a big horse and Mark had to hold him together at Addington last start after he trotted roughly on the bends, tighter track here and I’m just not prepared to take the short odds on offer. He’s a must have in your quaddies and exotic bets though.
(5) Cheerful – is the third runner from the All Stars camp who hasn’t done much wrong to date, she’s a notch below her stable mates but from a handy draw she could get some place money here while (11) Doff Your Cap – wouldn’t surprise me if he ran a cracker. His manners are letting him down but two starts ago he would have got close to beating One Apollo at Addington but broke when stepping the wheel. Upset horse.

Race 3: 1.00pm – 3YO Diamond – 3YO Pacing Fillies
Selections: (5) Shez All Rock, (6) Dibaba, (12) Elle Mac, (2) Dizzy Miss Lizzy
Suggested bet: (5) Shez All Rock – Win
Comments: (5) Shez All Rock – crashed into a short priced favourite for this race after her dominate victory last start and her ideal barrier draw. She was dominate in the Oaks and certainly showed that the Australian form can stack up over here. She’s had a bit longer in the All Stars barn now so you could expect some improve on her Oaks run which is scary to think. Only bad luck will stop her winning this.
(6) Dibaba- can add some value to this race with her high gate speed, I wouldn’t be surprised if Terry Chmiel decides to have a crack at crossing them, his filly has high gate speed and that would put her in the right spot to hand up to the likes of Shez All Rock and fill a top three position.
(12) Elle Mac – will probably still get the 3YO Filly of the year award at the awards later on this season but she was easily beaten by her new stable mate last start in the NZ Oaks and from this back row draw her chances of turning the tables are slim, quality filly who has won three group ones this year so she’ll still be competitive.
(2) Dizzy Miss Lizzy – showed a hint of the old Dizzy Miss Lizzy when storming home out wide in the Oaks, drawn well and Blair Orange in the cart – won the Jewels as a 2yo – upset chance.

Race 4: 1.34pm – 4YO Diamond – 4YO Pacing Mares
Selections: (6) Bettor’s Heart, (5) Delishka, (3) Juice Brogden, (13) Utmost Delight
Suggested bet: (6) Bettor’s Heart – Eachway
Comments: This could possibly be the most open Jewels we’ve had for a while, I’ve picked my best four but there are nine strong winning chances and whoever gets the best run will win this. Plenty of gate speed on the front row.
I’ve put (6) Bettor’s Heart – on top with her high gate speed I’d expect her to either find the front or the parked spot outside of Delishka or Juice Brogden. If she was able to find the front I think she’d be tough to run down but with a sit she can be just as dangerous. Beaten 0.8L by the inform Ohanzee at Addington a fortnight ago, she’s fit and in form.
(5) Delishka & (3) Juice Brogden – both leave the gate like they are tied to it, they’ll be in lead positions and as long as they don’t have to work too hard early and can get a crack in the final 400m they’ll both have winning chances.
(13) Utmost Delight – unwound late over the mile trip at Alexandra Park to just miss beating Star Galleria, draw isn’t a help but they’ll go hard early which will suit her. This is a slight easing in grade of her recent runs. Can win.

Race 5: 2.09pm – 4YO Ruby – 4YO Trotters
Selections: (3) Enghien, (1) Habibi Inta, (4) Musculus, (9) Izmok
Suggested bet: Boxed Quinella
Comments: (3) Enghien – is a classy trotter who won well at Addington last start and is here to defend his Jewels crown. No luck on this track before but drawn well. While he should be turning up and winning this I think I’d rather take the place money around (1) Habibi Inta – from the ace draw, Blair Orange in the cart and trained by a master in Paul Nairn. He’s shooting for four straight victories. Eachway and quinella chance.
(4) Musculus – is another one that has been purchased recently by the All Stars barn, did well last start at Addington although I’m not convinced he suits the short course distance and I think he’s more of a stayer. Trained by the All Stars though so you must add him to all of your tickets.
(9) Izmok – can provide some value to the thin ends of Trifecta and First Four’s from this handy barrier. He’ll follow Habibi Inta everywhere he goes and this guy actually has the ability to get some of this. Perfect draw to sneak into a top four spot.

Race 6: 2.47pm – 2YO Emerald – 2YO Pacing Colts/Geldings
Selections: (6) Jesse Duke, (5) Another Masterpiece, (8) War Dan Delight, (11) Heisenberg
Suggested bet: (6) Jesse Duke
Comments: A race dominated by the All Stars barn and something would have to go seriously wrong for them not to win this race.
(6) Jesse Duke – claimed his “Best 2yo” crown back when he sat outside Another Masterpiece last start and beat him. A big rangy type who will roll forward and prove tough to beat.
(5) Another Masterpiece – has high gate speed but he probably won’t be able to cross the Australian runner unless it puts some rough ones in. If he sits parked you’d expect one of his stable mates that are drawn outside of him to head forward and give him cover, dangerous with a nice sit close to the speed.
(8) War Dan Delight – needed the run last start after getting the perfect trip on the pegs, wide draw here but has shown he has ability in his three starts to date. Place claims while (11) Heisenberg – has put in some huge runs this season behind the All Star’s runners but this draw isn’t a help, thin end of first fours for this runner.

Race 7: 3.22pm – 4YO Emerald – 4YO Pacing Geldings & Entire’s
Selections: (10) Eamon Maguire, (11) Star Galleria, (2) A G’s White Socks, (12) Billy Badger
Suggested bet: (10) Eamon Maguire – Win
Comments: (10) Eamon Maguire – is the bet of the day – his run in the messenger was super and his last start defeat proved his preferred distance is the short course distances. He’s drawn to follow A G’s White Socks through from the second line and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in front shortly after the start if Natalie drove him aggressively. At worst he’ll have to sit parked and he’s still good enough to beat them.
(11) Star Galleria – should be able to slot straight onto Eamon Maguire’s back and follow him wherever he goes. If Eamon was to end up parked then his fella should end up in the 1×1 and he could easily pop off their backs and win this. Last start victory was super.
(2) A G’s White Socks – draws the best barrier out of his main rivals and should find the front early here, I think he’s better coming off the speed but they’ll have to make use of the draw here and it gives Ricky May options to hand up or stay in front. Eachway player.
(12) Billy Badger – has come back in super form against some good horses – place best against this lot.

Race 8: 4.02pm – 3YO Ruby – 3YO Trotters
Selections: (1) Winterfell, (9) Monaro Mia, (8) Wobelee, (5) Sex On Fire
Suggested bet: (9) Monaro Mia – Place
Comments: (1) Winterfell – will start at a short quote after his recent wins against these horses, drawn the ace and racing out of the All Stars barn – tough to beat.
(9) Monaro Mia – is drawn to sit in the trail the whole way and she could get some of the place money in this, her recent form has been strong since joining Nicky’s barn. Place bet.
(8) Wobelee – is the Australian raider and he’s been given the visitors draw, smart trotter but drawn doesn’t help his chances, must have in multiples while (5) Sex On Fire – hasn’t been far away from the good ones when taking them on and draw could work out okay, place claims.

Race 9: 4.38pm – 3YO Emerald – 3YO Pacing Colts & Geldings
Selections: (3) Sheriff, (12) Sicario, (2) Pat’s Delight, (6)
Suggested bet: (3) Sheriff- Eachway
Comments: (3) Sheriff – is the NZ Derby champion who comes into this off the back of a 3.1L defeat behind race rival Sicario and a handy trial. Needed the last run and stable are happy with him, drawn to head forward and race on the speed. Quaddie and pick six must.
(12) Sicario – put in a super effort when fresh up for over 5 weeks last time, set to follow out a quick beginner and if he can follow him through and slot into a handy spot he’ll play a major role in this.
(2) Pat’s Delight – was only just beaten in the NZ Derby and drawn a lot better for this event, Dexter Dunn sticks with and he can get a much deserved feature win.
(6) Funatthebeach – never got into the race last start after they set a cracking time up front, Natalie takes the reins, could surprise.
