Seven Sharp co-host and Radio Hauraki Breakfast announcer, Jeremy Wells, has caught the harness racing bug.

The popular presenter has allowed a Sweet Lou yearling to be named after him, which will be trained by Canterbury’s Jack Harrington.

Wells was immediately intrigued by the horse and wanted to find out more about him and also learn more about harness racing. So in a Seven Sharp shoot last week he met Jack and the yearling ‘Jeremy Wells’ and was also treated to a few hot laps around the Dancingonmoonlight Lodge track behind Monkey King with Ashleigh Stewart.

Jeremy Wells, the horse, will have a syndicate of ladies share in part of the ownership and Wells himself has opted to take a share in the syndicate – which also includes a yearling trotter from the family of I Can Doosit.

Harness Racing New Zealand would like to thank Jack Harrington, Ashleigh Stewart and Sara Smith and her Dancingonmoonlight team for their support and assistance in making this story possible.

If you would like to find out more about ownership opportunities in harness racing, including the above options, please email jess@hrnz.co.nz
