This week’s Bookie Update thanks to Harness Bookmaker, Richard Wilson
Thursday – Forbury Park
Dexter racked up the wins on Thursday night winning 5 of the first 6 races but thankfully for us he couldn’t nail a sixth to land the 6 or more wins in the Dexter Dunn Special. The best bet of the night was a beauty – $5,000 Kotare Elite @ $4.80. Robbie Royale @ 3.10-$3, Dodgethebullet @ $2.30-$2.40 and Sky City King $2.20-$2.40 were bad results for us as well. A couple of large bets going our way were $3,000 Bettor B Ready @ $2.70 (Top3) and $3,000 Hans Ideal @ $2.20 (Top3).
Friday – Addington
A few outsiders winning made for an interesting night at Addington with Elle Mac the only hot favourite to salute @ $1.85. The best bet was $2,000 Habibi Inta @ $2.80, closely followed by $1,000 Sicario @ $4.20. The was a decent plunge on Extreme Stride in the last race. Large bets on him were $700 @ $3.80, $4,300 @ $3.20, $1,000 @ $2.90, $1,500 @ $2.70 & $2,400 @ $2.70. He put in a big run for 3rd after an early mistake. Le Lievre’s Gift was also well backed including a $5,000 bet @ $2.50.
Friday – Auckland
Much like Addington, the worst result for us came in the last race with debutant trotter Agostini backed in from $19 to $8. An $800 bet @ $9 the best of a big stack on him. Nice returns also came from $1,000 Seaswift Joy @ $4 and $750 Make Way @ $5. Saving the night from disaster were $5,000 bets Utmost Delight @ $1.95, $5,000 Girls On Film @ $1.45 & $2.300 Double O Heaven @ $1.85.
Saturday – Winton
A quieter day at Winton on Saturday with the best bet being $1,000 Grace O’Malley @ $6.50 and two $2,000 bets on Elva Jaccka @ $2.80 also struck gold. Alta Shelby was a bad result for us as well @ $1.90. A $2,300 bet on Southbound Train @ $6 missed the mark as did a big stack of bets on Mahksman in the last race.
Sunday – Timaru
A couple of plunges came off at Timaru on Sunday. Sheez Good opened @ $9.50 & has hammered into $5.50 with the best bet being $700 @ $8. Stylish Duke opened @ $6.80 but drifted early on as there was solid backing for Red Hot Poker & Ardee Trouble @ double figure odds. $550 & $500 bets @ $7.20 were the best bets on the Duke. Kingslayer was another strongly backed winner. He opened @ $1.90 but bets of $2,600 @ $1.75 & $10,000 @ $1.60 did the most damage there. Positives for us were in short supply. $3,000 Johnny White @ $1.60 (Top3) the only really large bet to miss. The deadheat between Kendra & Bronx Village an interesting one. A big swing for punters in Kendra could have held on & a massive scoop for us in Bronx Village could have found another millimetre.
Multi of the Week:
$70 on Sunday
Bringitonhome @ $2.30
Kendra @ $1.60 (Deadheat win)
Kingslayer @ $1.60
Always On Call @ $21 Ascot Park Gallops
Returned $4,328 – Had Kendra won outright the return would have been $8,656
