Friday May 4, 2018, Jack Bagley passed away peacefully surrounded by his greatest supporter and wife of 66 years Norma and their family.
Jack went to his first horse sale to buy a thoroughbred with his father in 1963 and came home with a standardbred named Burda. Little did Jack know this was to be the start of something special.
Born and raised in a small town called Chiltern in North East Victoria, there was no doubt this was the place that Endeavour Trotting Stud would take form.
Jack took a liking to breeding horses and breaking them in ready for the sale each year.
His most successful brood mare was Sans Pareil, who won Victorian Brood Mare of the year twice in 1990 and 1993, having had 13 foals, 11 which raced were winners of 107 individual races in total and over $500k her best being Part of Glory winning the Vic Sire Stakes and Tatlow as a two-year-old.
Sans Pareil’s blood line is still winning today with two Tasmanian winners last week Mr Magic Man and Lockaway Kacie, along with Red River Glacier and It is Glacier trained locally by the Romero stables. all can be traced back to this foundation mare
Throughout Jack’s long breeding career, which spanned nearly 50 years he bred 110 individual winners.
Jack leaves behind a great legacy, a respect and love for standardbred horses, a wealth of knowledge and a passion for this sport to his children, grandchildren and great grand children
Jack will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
HRV extends sincere condolences to Mr Bagley’s family and friends.
