Fast-class star Bettors Fire and the promising Simba Bromac are two of the best bets on Friday night’s 10-event card at Gloucester Park, according to members of the WA Trotting Media Guild.

TABradio’s Matt Young, last season’s leading tipster Stuart Lowe and The West Australian’s Ernie Manning have all labelled Simba Bromac as their best bet.

Young says Simba Bromac is “low flying and drawn to lead and win comfortably”.

“Short but sweet,” Young said.

And Lowe and Manning agree.

“My best bet is Simba Bromac who has won seven of his last nine starts,” Lowe said. “He decimated his rivals at his last two starts and from barrier two here should win again.”

Manning said Simba Bromac, who was emerging as a top country performer, had won only once from four Gloucester Park starts.

“But victories by 28.5m at Northam and 11.3m at Narrogin in his past two races suggest he is ready for city success,” Manning said. “He has the outstanding tally of 11 wins, three seconds and a fourth from his last 15 appearances.”

The West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft and Guild president Wayne Currall have made Bettors Fire their best for the meeting.

Havercroft says Bettors Fire is “classes above his rivals here and from barrier two he should be spearing straight to the top”.

“Though I’d be more confident of his chances over a shorter trip, a career record of 17 wins from 31 starts at this distance range suggests he should be winning,” Havercroft said.

Currall agrees.

“Kyle Harper was very disappointed with Bettors Fire misjudging the start last week,” Currall said. “He blamed himself for not getting a flying start and then staying in at the bell  lap. Harper will be keen to make amends and I can see Bettors Fire spearing straight to the top and making every post a winner.”

Longshot guru Pat Harding believes it will be an excellent night’s racing and he’s really looking forward to the WA Oaks.

“It is really great to see such a good line-up of three-year-old fillies and I think the one to follow is Lady De La Renta from the Annie Belton stable with Chris Voak aboard,” Harding said. “She’s had some good recent runs but has been a bit unlucky, however I think over the 2536m she can prevail over Liberty Rose.”

GPTV’s Ken Casellas is keen on the Skye Bond-trained Thisbeachrighthere in the opening event.

“West Australian-bred gelding Thisbeachrighthere earns the nod as my best bet on Friday night after showing a dazzling burst of speed on his way to an impressive victory at Pinjarra on Monday afternoon,” Casellas said. “The three-year-old has the raw ability to overcome the distinct disadvantage of starting from the outside barrier in the opening event.”

VALUE BETS

Matt: Ohoka Darcy is racing very well and is drawn to either lead or race in a great spot. He’s a good each-way chance.

Stuart: My value bet is Our Zak Whitby who won here in quick time four weeks ago. Luckless and unplaced at three subsequent runs. Better drawn here and should figure in the finish.

Ernie: Master Jaxon will race for the first time since a transfer to trainer Colin Brown and could bounce back to form after only one win in his past 17 starts. He has shown plenty of ability in three GP wins.

Ryan: Northern Emperor has not won in 25 starts but is consistently running into the placings and is suited from a back-line draw, following out the likely favourite. I think he has a metropolitan win in him and he is one to follow.

Wayne: Copagrin should get a lovely run in transit behind likely leader Bettors Fire. Champion reinsman Chris Lewis jumps in the bike and he can place at odds.

Pat: Lord Willoughby has been knocking on the door in his last four runs and I think with Shannon Suvaljko aboard he can bring home the bacon. Won’t be at long odds but can win.

Ken: For value, I’m suggesting Detroit Lily in the WA Oaks. She should enjoy a prominent position in the one-wide line and is capable of unwinding a sparkling late burst of speed.
