MEDIA RELEASE:

Following discussions with South Australian Harness Racing Club, the Port Pirie Harness Racing Club and Sky Racing, Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) will be conducting a six-week trial whereby racing, currently scheduled for Friday nights, will be transferred to Sunday afternoons. The timetable being that the trial will commence on Sunday May 20 and conclude on Sunday June 24. These meetings will be held in the twilight period and broadcast on Sky Racing 1.

In undertaking this trial HRSA is seeking to increase South Australian harness racing exposure on Sky Racing 1 as, while historically Friday nights have proved successful, the reality is that because of the heavy saturation of content on Friday Nights, it is becoming progressively more difficult for the South Australian harness racing product to maintain its position on Sky Racing 1.

The venue and program for the meetings originally scheduled for the Friday remain unchanged, with the exception of the meeting at Port Pirie on Sunday June 24. This meeting will now be the Elders Insurance Port Pirie Drivers Invitation Meeting. It is anticipated that racing will commence 4-5pm and conclude 7-8pm.

HRSA and Sky Racing will assess the results of this six-week trial before making any decisions regarding future race dates.
