Bit Of A Legend will attempt to win his second ever Levy Series final at Yonkers Raceway in New York this Sunday New Zealand time.

After winning the series in 2016 Bit Of A Legend has been a consistent performer throughout this series recording two heat wins, and placing second in two others. He goes into the final as the points leader for 2018.

He’ll have to be at the top of his game to take on the classy field which includes last year’s Levy Final winner Keystone Velocity.

Fellow expat Christen Me will potentially make the consolation after finishing the series with a second and two thirds.

The series for the Levy and Matchmaker are held over five rounds and points are accrued depending on each week’s placing. This determines who makes the finals and who competes in the consolations.

In the Matchmaker for mares Kiwi bred Shartin will face off with other expats Sell A Bit and Motu Moonbeam.

Shartin had been unbeaten in the first three rounds of the series, but came back after a freshener and made an uncharacteristic break as the field was released from the mobile. She then settled only to break again in the final half. It left her connections scratching their heads afterwards.

“We couldn’t find anything wrong with her,” trainer Jim King Jr reported. “So we will regroup and try again.”

Sell A Bit comes into the final with a record of five wins from ten starts this season. She won in the first and fifth rounds of heats to cement her place in this week’s rich feature.

Motu Moonbeam was also successful in the second round of the series, and picked up two seconds to secure her spot with the top point scorers.

Yonkers Raceway has a live stream available on their Facebook page of their racing should anyone wish to follow the action on Sunday morning.
