MORE than $18,000 has been raised for the Women’s Cancer Foundation in New South Wales alone for the 2018 Team Teal Campaign.
Since February 1, female drivers across Australia and New Zealand have worn teal coloured driving pants to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research and this will continue until March 11.
Each time a female driver wins a race in NSW during this time, Harness Racing NSW donates $200 to the Women’s Cancer Foundation and this amount is matched by Tabcorp.
Additionally, HRNSW also contributes $100 to the cause each time Team Teal Ambassador KerryAnn Turner trains a winner in the teal colours.
And so far, Turner has achieved this nine times.
“It’s great to get a win but to get a win that is going to a good cause is even better,” said Turner.
“It makes it all worthwhile and hopefully we can raise even more money.”
As of Monday, there had been 134 Team Teal winners in the Southern Hemisphere, raising $43,350 in total.
In NSW there have been 42 driving wins.
