AUSTRALIAN Pacing Gold purchase Jilliby Kung Fu will attempt to join an elite fraternity at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night.
The Marg Lee-trained entire is aiming to become just the fifth pacer to capture the venue’s two premier events – Chariots Of Fire and Miracle Mile – which have been run simultaneously since 1995.
Holmes DG was the ground breaker having won the Chariots Of Fire in 1999 before returning to win the Miracle Mile as a five and six-year-old.
Smooth Satin won Miracle Mile at five, while Christen Me was six.
Former boom pacer Have Faith In Me is the only campaigner to secure both in the same season, which he managed in 2016.
Jilliby Kung Fu completed the first part of the equation a fortnight ago and is in peak condition for Miracle Mile engagement according to Lee.
“He’s feeling great and has settled in really well at Menangle,” Lee said. “We came up yesterday morning and moved into the retention barn today.
“He handled his trip and run in Chariots really well and has been great in his track work since.
“He is happy, healthy and ready to go…now we just need some luck on the night.”
Surprising most onlookers with his lightning gate speed in the Chariots Of Fire, the son of Four Starzzz Shark has drawn to be pushed forward from barrier five in his Grand Circuit debut.
Jilliby Kung Fu will move into four with the removal of the emergency.
Lee, however, is giving away no hints as to the possible tactics to be adopted with the four-year-old.
“Jason (Lee, driver) isn’t up here yet, so I don’t know what his plans are,” Lee said. “I will have to work it out with Jason.”
