What’s abundantly clear is that there is a real appetite for this new exciting race series that injects significant new money into Harness Racing, back into our breeding heartland areas like Shepparton. I get the feeling this is only the start of some very exciting times for those clubs connected to Harnessbred.com
The full board of the SHRC along with its Secretary /Manger Mr Ian McDonald and the very accomplished treasurer Ms Sally Burgess should be commended for their outstanding support, of what will be an exceptional event.
No more entries will be taken for this event passed 1pm on Thursday (24/02/2018) and every valued owner that has come forward to back this concept will be notified by Friday if their entries have been successful in securing a spot. The running of the very first Harnessbred.com “State Of Origin Series” isopen to just 18 non-sale entries from the SHRC and the 16 sold at The Allwood Sale.
For those new to the sport, The Shepparton Harness Racing Clubconducts racing at the Kialla Racing Complex approximately 40 times per year predominantly at night.
Thirty of these meetings are the Clubs own events and the remaining ten are meetings hosted for the Wangaratta, Kyabram and Mooroopna Clubs.
Geographically the club is centrally located to the racing and breeding industries and since 2004 the industry, State Government and Greater Shepparton Council have invested in the order of $5 million to significantly upgrade the racing track, construct a new dining complex and develop an undercover stable complex.
The Shepparton Club now boast facilities more than comparable to any other provincial club and enjoys above state average performance in terms of racing entries and patron attendance.
In recent years the Kialla Complex has seen the relocation of Shepparton Greyhounds who race twice per week and this development has seen a further $6
million invested in the site which makes Kialla the newest and most impressive racing complex in provincial Australia.
