Northern Southland – Thursday 11 January
The club will offer a complimentary owners room with refreshments, sponsored by Alabar Stud, for all owners with a horse racing at the meeting this Thursday at Ascot Park.
The features on the card will be the House of Travel Lakers Summer Cup, the third Southern Belle Speed Series heat and the Gold Nugget Final.
The Alabar Southern Supremacy colours and the Nevele R Stud/Macca Lodge Southland Oaks colours are also being rolled out for the first time this season. They are to be worn by the leading point scorers in each category, they are Tres Vite (Oaks) race six and Kilowatt Kid (Supremacy) race five. These colours will be worn by the leading point scorers at each race meeting from now until the finals on Diamonds Day at Invercargill on the 29th of April.
Looking ahead to the next Northern Southland meeting, 10 March, which is the feature meeting for the season – Yaldhurst Hotel Cup Day. It features three Group Races and $190,000.00 in stakes. Hospitality packages are available, phone Lindsay Beer 021 351 499.
Thursday’s meeting will also boast a $25,000 Pick Six which will start in Race 5 at 4.58pm.
Nelson Harness Racing Club – Friday 12 January
We are going to hold a welcome BBQ for trainers, owners and staff in the birdcage on Thursday 11 January 5pm to 7pm. And running raffles and offering a light bite to eat. So once the horses are fed pop on down to the birdcage grab a bite, get your tickets and race books for race day and meet the Nelson HRC team.
We are once again thankful to our wonderful sponsors who support our race meeting especially Nelson Pine Industries Ltd who sponsor both our Prelude and Nelson Cup. Murray Sturgeon and Nelson Pine Industries are wonderful supporters of all aspects of the Nelson / Tasman community.
Kidz Kartz and Pony Trust Canterbury will once again be on course, back at the track where they kicked off racing some ten years ago! Kidz Kartz are fantastic for our industry and it is so awesome to watch these kids go on to gain their race day licences and enjoy success – Dylan Ferguson, Sheree Tomlinson and Kim Butt representing NZ in the junior drivers championship. Olivia Thornley recently gained her first win at Motukarara on her Dad’s horse.
We have added an additional seat to our mobile gate and will be offering a chance to ride with starter Peter Lamb to lucky members, sponsors, public throughout the day.
As we are part of Inter-Island Summer Festival we do have a $10 charge to get in the gates. We want to make sure all trainers and owners are ticketed, if you are able to come to the secretary office prior to race day we will be able to sort for you. Waikato Bay of Plenty at Cambridge – Friday 12 January
The Friday night meeting will offer a Pick Six on Races 3 to 8, with the first race starting at 5.29pm. Entry to the course is free.
Thames at Parawai – Saturday 13 January
A great option for any racing fan wanting to escape the big smoke, or venture down from the Coromandel, and enjoy country racing is the Thames meeting to be held at Parawai Racecourse this Saturday.
Situated just three kilometres south of the township of Thames, the feature race on the card is the $10,000 Parawai Cup.
Entry to the course is free and Kidz Kartz will be present to entertain with races throughout the day. It is a great way to enjoy some great racing action and quality time with friends of family this summer.
Alexandra Park – Chinese New Year Meeting, 9 February
