UNBEATEN Australian Pacing Gold youngster Bettabrown Tiger is expected to maintain his perfect record when he heads to Hobart on Sunday night.
Although the son of Betterthancheddar is first-up since last March, trainer Melissa Maine is confident Bettabrown Tiger is ready to resume with a win.
Successful at his three starts as a freshman, Bettabrown Tiger has drawn to lead throughout from the pole.
“He has the draw his favour and I think he can remain unbeaten this weekend,” Maine said. “His work has been great and he trialled solidly a couple of days before Christmas.
“He will certainly be hard to beat.”
A Melbourne APG purchase, Bettabrown Tiger has benefitted from his long spell according to Maine.
In fact, the popular horsewoman has set her sights on the Tasmania Derby in April and a trip across Bass Strait.
“He’s grown a lot and is feeling very strong,” Maine said. “There is no reason why he won’t improve as the season goes on.
“At this stage I haven’t really planned anything with him and Sunday’s race will give us a good gauge where he is at.
“If he can improve as I believe he will, I’ll set him for the Derby.
“At some stage I would also like to go to Victoria to try and win his Vicbred bonus.”
