Better B Amazed’s Victoria Cup campaign is over before it even began.
The Auckland mare has been pulled out of the A$200,000 Cup at Melton on Saturday night after a substandard workout last Friday.
That had trainer Steve Telfer thinking the trip was a no-go and her work wasn’t any better on Sunday so she will have blood tests and miss the Grand Circuit race.
Better B Amazed has been New Zealand’s most improved pacer this season with two huge wins at Alexandra Park and a last start second to stablemate No Doctor Needed in the Spring Cup.
No Doctor Needed remains in the Victoria Cup entries and if he makes the final field today he will fly to Melbourne tomorrow to take his place.
Lennytheshark is the hot favourite for the Cup after a punishing fresh up win at Melton last Friday with Kiwi pacer Field Marshal second favourite before the draw.
