NZ HARNESS NEWS
Ideal Alice tipped
Western Australian reinsman Gary Hall Jnr has labelled former Kiwi mare Ideal Alice a huge chance in the Spring Pace (2536m, mobile) at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
Ideal Alice (19 wins) has drawn one and is a brilliant front-runner, having six wins, three seconds and a third from 10 starts from the ace.
“I reckon she’ll win,” Hall Jnr told Harness Racing Australia.
“She should lead and she’s a hard horse to put pressure on because she runs so fast. The track is very fast and I reckon it is a three-length advantage for a leader at the moment.”
Hall Jr also says classy ex-Kiwi pacer Lets Chase The Dream (13 wins) can bounce back from a narrow fresh-up defeat over 2130m (mobile).
‘’He pulled a bit in the middle stages and hit the wheel a little bit. The middle 800m in 57sec cost him a bit and he pulled up fat, which I knew he would.”
Deni Roberts, 21, will drive Lets Chase The Dream from the five barrier.
Kiwi well placed
The Tim Butt-trained Kiwi flyer My Field Marshal is a standout chance at Menangle on Saturday (1609m mobile) afer the scratching of his last-start conqueror, NZ-owned Little Rascal.
My Field Marshal is drawn the outside gate, but will strip fitter after his narrow fresh-up defeat two weeks ago.
He’s being aimed at the Victoria Cup on October 19 and Butt will then decide on the Perth Inter-Dominions in late November.
Kiwi superstar Lazarus is still Inters favourite with Aussie TAB bookmakers at $4.50, with Chicago Bull ($5.50), Lennytheshark ($8), and My Field Marshal and Tiger Tara at $12 the next best backed.
