Star pacer Pachacuti will headline an exciting card of harness racing at Luxbet Park in Hobart tonight.

The reigning Easter Cup champion (pictured) will go head-to-head with star stablemates Devendra, Roger Ramjet and up-and-coming pacer Taurisi in the C7 or Better Pace over 2090 metres (Race 3 at 19:14).

Throw the Ben Yole runners Another Swinger and Jeans Mattjesty into the mix, along with the consistent John Castles performer Chirac and the Adrian Duggan-prepared Poker Storm and it will be a race well worth watching.

Pachacuti and Roger Ramjet had their final hit-out for tonight’s clash with a two horse trial under race conditions prior to Sunday evening’s meeting in Launceston.

Adrian Collins assumed the role of pace maker with Roger Ramjet in the early stages of the trial while Todd Rattray sat four-metres away on Pachacuti.

The duo didn’t set out to break any records but did increase the tempo over the final 600-metres as Pachacuti worked home over the top of Roger Ramjet to win by a head.

Both pacers appeared to have plenty in reserve, recording a 1.57.1 mile-rate, coming home the last half in 56 seconds.

Roger Ramjet notched up a winning hat-trick through July, before finishing with a flat tyre when second to Jeans Mattjesty in August, and comes back to racing after a five week freshen up.

Pachacuti, has greeted the judge at 32 of his 71 career start and has banked $320,000 for connections.

Tonight, the Bettors Delight – Tirols Ziray eight-year-old commences its hopeful journey to the Interdominion Series in Western Australia.

After running three placings in succession since returning from a six-month spell Devendra will take the next step in his 2017 Inter-Dom campaign.

The Bettors Delight – Queen Carey eight-year-old has won 25 races, including two 2016 Interdominion Heat victories and boasts prize money of $398,923.
