Australia, Sweden and France were the big winners at the International Media Awards presented at the closing ceremony of the World Trotting Conference in Canada on Sunday. Australia won two of the eight categories with Paul Courts and Scott Hamilton both internationally recognised.
Courts won Best News Article for ‘Desperate attempt to save promising pacer’. The article documented the battle Lance Justice and his staff endured to save the life of promising pacer Love Ina Chevy from a snakebite.
Hamilton won the Best Social Media category for his coverage of the 2016 Inter Dominion. Hamilton’s media company Scott Hamilton Media provided regular updates, interviews and news on the Inter Dominion to different social media platforms helping to promote the race to a younger demographic.
Harness Racing Australia Chief Executive Andrew Kelly was extremely pleased with the result and praised the winners.
“It is very exciting for the industry in Australia and the media that covers the sport across the country to be recognised on the world stage,’ Mr Kelly said.
“Australian entries in the different categories were all of the highest quality. To win two of them is great and congratulations to Paul and Scott for their success.”
