Live On Broadway returns to the racetrack tomorrow to launch his second campaign for the Stable Of Stars.
The three-year-old gelding has overcome a sesamoid injury, which inflamed amid his first stint of racing for star-studded owners Rick McLean, Garry Lyon, Hamish McLachlan, Tim Watson, Jason Dunstall, Moana Hope, Larni Salathiel, Craig Hutchison, Liam Pickering, John Rothfield and Danny Frawley.
Trainer Shannon McLean said he had trained on well this campaign and tomorrow’s trial at Kilmore would be a further step towards a racing return.
“His work has been good and there have been no issues,” McLean said. “The vet checked him out last week and said he is as good as he can be. It is time to step it up a bit.”
Live On Broadway completed a “run around” at Tabcorp Park Melton last Tuesday, which McLean said was “a chance to get him off the property and to the race track”.
“At Kilmore we will probably just have him run within himself,” McLean said of today’s trial. “We will look to keep him back in the field, we have noticed that this time in he has been a lot better behind. When he is in front he can be a bit green and lazy, so we will give him a chance to sit back and run on.
“It will all just be an education for him. We will the reassess after the trial depending upon how he pulls up.”
