by Gary Crocker, Chairman of the Allwood Stud Farm 2018 SA Yearling Sale Committee
Due to the astonishing support of Standardbred breeders in this country, we are now in a position to send our first round of acceptance notices for non-sale entries for the Allwood Stud 2018 Yearling Sales. The Committee would like to remind all SA breeders they still have the exclusive rights the non-sale entries up until the 17th of July. It’s really important that breeders know this closing date will not be extended.
While Allwood Stud, our key partner in this event, has two highly credential stallions now at stud, it was really pleasing this week to receive a non-sale entry for a smashing looking filly by Follow The Stars out of the great Uncork family (which many people in our how state would be familiar with).

While we are honoured that the leading breeders in this nation have come forward with a strong showing of support by committing some truly outstanding entries, we do acknowledge we have a huge responsibility in running a successful event. The industry is crying out for a fresh, fair, honest run sale. Our mantra of putting the industry first will go a long way at building the trust and frame work needed for both buyers and sellers.
For those breeders who take up the one payment option we have a draw to find one extremely lucky winner who will be gifted a free service to Fly Like An Eagle . He was an extremely talented young star of the track, he is a four time Group One winner, and defeated the best pacers of his time including Christen Me, Smolda, Sushi Sushi, and Sir Lincoln. He still holds the New Zealand record as the fastest two year old over 1700 metres with a mile rate of 1:55.9
