In a move that I (or Yirribee for that matter) didn’t see coming, an announcement will be made on Monday that For A Reason will not be standing with them for the 2017/18 season.
This news will catch many people off guard as a lot of breeders are of the view that Yirribee did an outstanding job last year securing him 132 mares for the season. Not only did For A Reason get to cover
some excellent mares, the fact that 84% finished the season in foal was also a fine achievement. While his destination at this point is a well-kept secret, don’t be surprised if he will be standing in the Menangle region.
His record is below:
- 27 Career Wins and $1,111,470 in prizemoney
- 2014 QPC Winner (Group 1)
- 2013 Victoria Cup Winner (Group 1)
- The Richest Son of ART MAJOR born in Australia
- To stand in New South Wales
- Australian 3YO Pacer of the Year
- Group One wins NSW Derby & Queensland Derby
- Group Three wins Governor’s Cup (Albion Park) & Gold Coast Derby
- Won first 4 starts as 2YO
His winners from just 33 foals of racing age are listed below:

Last year his advertised price was $2,750 less discounts and I’m told Yirribee did have a large book already lined up for the 2017/18 season. That said, anytime a new player enters the stud game, we should welcome them with open arms and we wish them the very best with this young stallion who is clearly on the rise.
