After a brief cough and a splutter the Stable Of Stars gelding, Live On Broadway, is on his way back to the big stage.

Having been bound for big things in his first campaign, trainer Shannon McLean had to stall Live On Broadway’s progress after the Art Major three-year-old suffered a further virus.

“I gave him about two weeks off and will bring him back slowly,” McLean said.

“He has been back in work for two weeks and seems to be coming along OK. I am just jogging him lightly and he is looking well.”

The news will be welcomed by Live On Broadway’s star-studded ownership, who include Danny Frawley, Moana Hope, Rick McLean, Garry Lyon, Tim Watson, Larni Salathiel, Josh Jenkins, Craig Hutchison, John Rothfield, Liam Pickering, Jason Dunstall and Hamish McLachlan.

They could well be on track for some Group-level glory, with McLean eying the autumn’s leading age group carnival for Live On Broadway.

“If everything goes to plan I will hopefully trial him in seven to eight weeks,” he said. “I hope to then gear him towards the Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series, which culminates with a $115,000 final. The super series heats will be on June 22 at Kilmore and so that would be an ideal target.”
