Stable of Stars owned three-year-old Live On Broadway is bound for Wangaratta.

After a luckless fourth on debut at Yarra Valley on February 9, the Shannon McLean-trained bay gelding will target a heats-into-final race on March 12 at the annual Wangaratta Cup meeting.

“The heat is a three-year-old 3C0 only race worth $7,000 and if we finish in the first five placegetters he will qualify for the $10,000 Final to be run at Tabcorp Park Melton on March 25,” McLean said.

“We’ve freshened him up and we’ll get some good work into him this week.”

Live On Broadway has recently overcome a virus but McLean says the son of Art Major-Broadway Play is back to his best and ready for a racetrack return.

The Stable of Stars comprises AFL Women’s star Moana Hope, AFL star Josh Jenkins, Garry Lyon, Tim Watson and Hamish McLachlan from the Garry, Tim & Hamish show on SEN, Craig Hutchison, Liam Pickering and Dr Turf from Crocmedia’s Off the Bench, Own the Moment ambassador Larni Salathiel, Fox Footy star and legendary Hawthorn goal kicker Jason Dunstall and his Fox Footy colleague Danny Frawley, whose earnings via the Stable of Stars will be donated to the Harness Racing Victoria HERO (Harness Education & Rehoming Opportunities) program.

HERO strives to create positive pathways for standardbred horses exiting the racing environment, catering both for horses which have come to the conclusion of their career and those which do not race.
