An Auckland Reactor half-sister to last season’s unbeaten youngster Wroxton Steel will be part of the two-pronged consignment of Angle Vale horseman Andrew Smith at next year’s Harnessbred.com South Australian Yearling Sale.
The leggy filly is out of the successful Aces N Sevens mare Lombo Viva Lamore, whose dam, Gypsy Rose Lombo, ranks as a half-sister to arguably Australia’s greatest-ever juvenile, Lombo Pocket Watch.
Misty Maiden, the third dam of the filly, totted up 12 wins including the Australian Derby and Oceania El Dorado and $245,449 in stakes was one of the best racemares of her era.
A daughter of champion sire and broodmare sire Windshield Wiper, Misty Maiden became the dam of nine individual winners and was acclaimed the Broodmare of the Year in 2006.
The second half of the draft is a strapping colt from the first crop of the royally-bred well-performed American import A Rocknroll Dance 1:47.4 ($2.4-million). This Rocknroll Hanover son from the family of Western Hanover, Walton Hanover and Modern Art notched 17 wins including the Meadowlands Pace, Governor’s Cup and Canadian Pacing Derby.
Offered by Smith and Barry Godfrey, the colt is a half to the eight-time winner Wroxton Playboy, being out of Party Time Girl, a Presidential Ball half-sister to the prolific Victorian winners The Good Guy ($175,615) and Trouble No More ($158,398).
Both yearlings were bred by the late Alison Stevens.
