Beautide has been ruled out of the Inter Dominion to be held later this year in Perth. James Rattray informed Harnessbred.com today (5/10/2016 ) that time had run out to get his super star horse ready. Beautide will now be set for races at Menangle.
Bettors Delight looks most likely to have the largest group of highly rated runners in the series at this early stage and In The Pocket looks like the standout broodmare sire again.
The first list below highlights the stallions that got the biggest books back in the 08/09 seasons (Live foal numbers for 09 are under both AUS/ NZ column’s), What’s really clear to me is that the service fee price and mare numbers don’t always add up to great results for the breeder.
Courage Under Fire ( Service fee $5,500) and Badlands Hanover ($2,500 ) had very small books that year, yet their 2 sons look most likely to put Lenny under extreme pressure in his quest to go back to back.
Going forward , keep an eye on American Ideal, as he is doing a wonderful job in my view for the small amount of mares that he’s been serving up until this year. Jeremes Jet, Changeover and McArdle will also have a lot more success moving forward.
Christian Cullen’s ability to leave so many great horses from so few foal numbers should not be forgotten and he will still remain at the top of any list l look produce.
However, the big player, Bettors Delight who served 487 mares AUS/ NZ) in the 15 season looks unstoppable.
The talk of an end to Art Major’s great run looks a bit premature to me – given in 2015 he still covered 473 mares (AUS/NZ). With mare numbers like this he’s going nowhere for the next 10 years or so.
