Two important lead-ups to the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup and Haras des Trotteurs Dominion were the main focus of this week’s latest Rankings.
The Cup Rankings saw only a small amount of movement. Franco Nelson’s Hannon Memorial success pushed him up to seventh, while Cullect A Guinness (3rd) and Quick As A Trick (4th) snuck up the table to 16th and 17th respectively, following their strong showings in the race.
The only other change within the rankings was the withdrawal of last week’s Addington mid-grade winner Idealindiamonds.
Just two trotters enjoyed leaps in the Dominion Rankings. Amaretto Sun won his ‘golden ticket’ into the Dominion by virtue of his storming, front-running win in last Friday’s Ordeal Cup at Addington. The win gave him automatic entry into the Dominion and as a result jumped him to third in the rankings. With a gallant second to Amaretto Sun, Sheemon cemented himself in the top 15 by moving ahead of Valmagne. He stays at eighth however following the move of Amaretto Sun.
Three further withdrawals were received by Addington officials; Belles Son, Pegasus Dream and Sunset Peak. That number may increase with the first sustaining payment due for both races at 3.00pm tomorrow (Wednesday).
