The open class trotter Monnay has been transferred to the Waiuku stable of Michelle Wallis and Bernie Hackett on two counts.
“He is unsound and he will not be racing against horses like Monbet,’’ said his part-owner and former trainer Phil Williamson, of Oamaru.
Monnay will be training on the beach which could aid his unsoundess. Now a 9-year-old, the Monarchy gelding has won 12 races. He returned to racing in June after close on two years on the sideline. He won five races in the winter of 2014 and had his most recent win from 60m at Oamaru in August that year.
Megan Irvine, a co-owner, prepared Monnay in partnership with Ivan Gutsell at Wyndham for his first two wins. Irvine and Gutsell are no longer licence holders.
