Star Tasmanian four-year-old Jerrys Jet showed his class to win a drama-packed $30,000 Raider Stakes final at Devonport on Sunday night.
After being given a perfect run by trainer-driver Rohan Hillier, the $1.80 favourite scored by only a metre from outsider One Mans Pass(Live Or Die- Pure Elegance) , with second favourite Four Ex Dan(Four Stazzz Shark- Flo Jo Fernandez) a close third.
Jerrys Jet, has now won 15 of his 19 starts, .
The race was delayed for about 15 minutes after Four Ex Dan threw himself down on the track near the starting point.
Four Ex Dan led from the pole, as expected, with Blackjackhanover on his outside, Fioki behind him and Jerrys Jet in the coveted one-one sit.
Jerrys Jet a son of former Alabar import Jeremes Jet is out of the Jet lag mare Laagirl.
Laagirl is performing very well in the breeding barn with three live foals including four time winner Fourstazzzgirl now at stud herself and exciting 2 year old Rocknroll Turbo ( Rock And Roll Heaven)
Jerrys Jet looked set to win comfortably when Hillier made his move but Four Ex Dan fought back strongly then One Mans Pass issued a late challenge out wide.
The exciting 4 year is unlikely to make a trip to the mainland in the near future.
THE GRANNY Smith Stakes final for the 4 year old mares turned out to be a breeze for polemarker Ark Breeze who led all the way to win easily.
Ark Breeze a daughter of Stonebridge Regal scored by five metres from rank outsiders Joan Grant (Real Desire – Christy Grant) and Mi Makarova (dawn Of A New Day- Mi Mademoiselle) .
Brighton trainer-driver Christian Salter was confident of winning after Ark Breeze drew well, with one reservation. It was only the mares second start since a eight month lay off.
