November 2022 saw Club Menangle, in partnership with Harness Racing NSW, Tabcorp and Allied Express participated in the Racing For Prostate Cancer campaign, raising both funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
Overall, a total of $24,605 was raised from a combination of success on the track, the inaugural Racing For Prostate Cancer Dinner and the efforts of those committed to supporting the charity.
Club Menangle CEO Bruce Christison said, “Our Club is immensely proud to have raised funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
The 2022 campaign was made even more successful as we partnered with Harness Racing NSW, Tabcorp and Allied Express to make a more significant contribution.
Thank you to all our Harness Racing participants who helped make this campaign possible, especially those who wore the Racing For Prostate Cancer silks in November.”
Across the eight race meetings held at our track throughout the month, eight winners were recorded wearing the Number 4 saddlecloth, with Club Menangle, Harness Racing NSW, Tabcorp and Allied Express each donating for these wins.
Uniquely on Saturday, 12 November, in the Stan Dumesny Memorial Trotters Mobile, a dead heat was recorded by Andoverlov NZ for Jack Trainor and Aldebaran Tess NZ for Sofia Arvidsson.
PCFA Chief Executive Anne Savage thanked the Club for its strong track record of support.
“The funds raised will go directly back to supporting men and families in our community impacted by prostate cancer.
“With so many men affected, Club Menangle’s efforts will help us keep up our pace for better ways of detecting prostate cancer early and harnessing our research Future Fund to beat the disease once and for all.”
The Big Sports Breakfast featuring hosts Laurie Daley, Michael Clarke and Gerard Middleton, held a live broadcast from Club Menangle during the campaign to help generate further conversation about Prostate Cancer, with 24,217 Australian men predicted to be diagnosed in 2022 alone. *
Our inaugural Racing For Prostate Cancer Dinner, held on Saturday, 19 November, showcased the campaign by helping to raise additional funds and awareness for the disease. Sky Racing Presenter Cassie Fahey hosted the evening, which included guest speakers Fred Hastings, The Hon. Jim Lloyd and David Shillington, as well as raffles, entertainment and Harness Racing on the track.
A massive thank you must be extended to our generous sponsors who helped to support the campaign, financially and in-kind.
