The friendly and helpful team at APG believe another outstanding national sale is essential for the sport going forward to support consignors and investors/breeders looking to bolster their breeding operation. While we acknowledge the online sale concept is in its infancy, the result from last season’s sale was enlightening, successful and extremely encouraging.
A great example of this would have to be Lot 578 from last week’s Sydney sale. The striking looking Badlands Hanover colt was sold in last year’s APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE for just $16,000 and, last weekend, was the beneficiary of some very spirited bidding selling under the hammer for $50,000 a great result.
The 2020 APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE, which will operate similarly to an e-bay style auction ( like last year), provides the safest and most cost effective way to trade some of the elite Standardbred families available in this country.
APG has again been approached by a number of vendors, each of which have a number of broodmares, racehorses and young stock that they are looking to move on. These vendors have requested APG’s assistance to conduct another online auction to help find suitable homes for their stock.
APG has agreed to conduct an online auction ( 2020 APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE ) to assist those particular vendors. However, APG has also decided to open up the sale to other loyal vendors in an attempt to attract a better balance of quality and quantity to maximise the success of the sale for both the consignors and purchasers.
At this early stage, APG does not want to place a clear-cut limit on the number or quality of the horses that will ultimately make it into the sale.
However, it’s to be noted that we want to look after the best interests of all parties involved. Therefore, horses will not be accepted if they do not have an fair chance of finding a new home, in our view. Having regard to both the commercial appeal of the horse and also to the vendor’s expectations (as reflected by their reserve).
